Hotels Starting to Make Connection Between Free Wi-Fi and Happy Clients

Access to WiFi is proving increasingly important for hotels’ customers

A BUGBEAR for most business travelers is the lack of reliable free Wi-Fi in many hotels.

Some have caught on to the idea that it might very well attract return customers, even those on expense accounts.

Accor is the latest hotel chain to come around to the idea. It is to offer free Wi-Fi in all of its Ibis budget, Ibis, Ibis Styles, Novotel, Mercure, Pullman and MGallery hotels in the UK.

“Free Wi-Fi has become the norm at many coffee houses or bars, but in the past with hotel groups it can vary from property to property, and differ between public areas and bedrooms,” said Thomas Dubaere, Accor UK and Ireland managing director.

“We recognize that guests expect to have free Wi-Fi wherever they are in the hotel and for it to be a quick, high quality connection.”
